Winning Habits for Teens

Doing well in school isn't only about 'academic' smarts. It is also about building good habits; self-control, and motivation. These are strengths that each student is capable of perfecting. To be most successful, our youth need an opportunity to strengthen these habits through practice.

In the book, "7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens", author Sean Covey helps give a real-life guide to help teens be their best. He talks about how important it is for teens to learn how to:

Manage stress;

Develop Self-control;

Be Persistent

Increase Motivation;

Mold Curiosity;

Integrate Resourcefulness; and

Build Self-Confidence

In order to support the development of these habits, we can start by encouraging teens in a non-punitive, and non- judgemental way. The teens in our world are now more than ever needed with their willing spirits, and their determination to contribute to their families, their schools, and their communities.
