Massachusetts Highway Department and Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC).   We also owe a debt of gratitude to the good folks at MassHighway and MAPC, without whom there would be no Upper Charles Trail.  Phase 1 has been 90% funded with a $1,815,000 grant from the Transporation Enhancement Program.  We very much look forward to working with MassHighway engineers, who will be overseeing the project.  Many thanks also to the MAPC team who conducted the feasibility study.

Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI). REI awarded a grant of $10,000 to the Upper Charles Conservation Land Trust, Inc. to support the project.  We also thank REI for sponsoring a trail cleanup in June 2007 for National Trails Day cleanup. About 60 people worked for four hours helping clean up a section of the trail.
