The Trust for Public Lands is assisting the Town of Holliston with the negotiations with CSX for the purchase of approximately 6 miles of abandoned railway corridor. An offer was made to CSX and a decision is expected soon.

Representatives from REI awarded the Upper Charles Rail Trail a grant in the amount of $10,000. at the selectman’s meeting in Holliston on Monday, October 15. Ken Henderson, member of Holliston Trails Committee accepted the grant for our Rails to Trails project here in Holliston. The $10,000 is a boost to the project and to our enthusiasm to make this multi-use recreational trail a reality.

Representing REI were Alex Jarman, Store Manager, and Joel Bottesini, Outreach Specialist.Here they present the $10,000 check to the Ken Henderson of the Holliston Trails Committee.

10/09/07--Updating the status of our efforts to purchase the CSX land.
The town estimates 2,500 people will use the trails on an average weekend for walking, jogging, bicycling, Rollerblading, cross-country skiing, hiking and other nonmotorized activities. To CSX: Please sell the land at a reasonable price!

Welcome. Here you'll find the latest information on the Holliston section of the proposed Upper Charles Multi-Use Trail, a state-funded project to convert a 20-mile, abandoned rail bed in five communities into a scenic, recreational path for bicycling, walking, cross-country skiing, roller-blading, and other non-motorized uses.
Since 1997, Holliston has been in negotiations with Jacksonville, Fla.-based CSX
