Community HousingEnsuring that Holliston maintains a diverse community by providing reasonable housing alternatives is important for the continued vitality of the town. Holliston seniors, seeking to downsize from their homes, are finding it difficult to find Community Housing that will enable them to stay in the town they helped build. Town employees are less able to live in town because of the lack of housing at mid to low price ranges. Few housing opportunities are available for those who grew up in Holliston and want to live here. The need for Community Housing has risen as market-rate housing prices throughout the Commonwealth and in Holliston have skyrocketed and far exceeded any reasonable rate of growth. Holliston must also be sensitive to the increasing attempts at the State House to tie state aid distributions to local efforts to increase Community Housing. |
